About sigmaIQ
I'm Jef Brink, founder of sigmaIQ. For more than two decades I've designed, built, and optimized wireless systems — and that engineering is what goes into every product we ship.
An RF background
My roots are in electronics and RF system design. I spent years at two of Canada's largest wireless carriers, designing, optimizing, and planning both macro networks and in-building coverage solutions. I also ran special projects — evaluating emerging technologies and rolling out new capacity and coverage where the network needed it most.
To do that work properly I built the instruments behind it — a USB spectrum analyzer, an antenna-azimuth measurement rig, and a hand-held RF power meter for verifying installations in the field.
From RF to IoT to the open road
That same instrument-it-and-measure-it mindset led to a range of IoT devices for commercial clients: monitoring access, industrial fridges and freezers, tank levels, air quality, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, motion, and gas — all feeding a web platform I built to collect, store, manage, alert on, and report the data.
Level Up, Northern Lights, and the oneView app grew out of a love for camping and the outdoors. What started as a hobby became a business. Similar products exist, but I believe ours stand up to any competitor — I'm proud of them, I use them myself, and they've been field-tested for two years to make sure they do exactly what we claim: getting you to the things that matter faster.
